Now that we have safely arrived on the other side of the world
and have vaguely convinced our internal clocks that lunchtime in Australia is
not bedtime, Teddy and I have been enjoying these past few days visiting with
his family in the Northern Territory. There
is something invigorating about living out of your suitcase and having the
freedom to roam about and explore. When
I think about it, the most important “things” to me are not even “things” - they
are people…and so when asked to pack as little as possible and only have the
bare necessities, it can be quite simple.
We are all surrounded by so much “stuff” in our everyday lives…how much of
it do we actually need!? I have a feeling
that this will be a frequent lesson/revelation for us over the next year. : )
In a few days we will journey to Papua New Guinea and
be caught up in another whirlwind of travel and exposure to new people and new
things…but for now…we will continue to enjoy this breath of pause before the next adventure begins.
Please continue to pray for safe and smooth travels as we
fly back to Cairns on Monday, September 8th and on to Port Moresby
then Mt. Hagen on Wednesday, September 10th.
Love, Rachel (and Teddy)
Missions is not the ultimate goal of the church. Worship is. Missions exists because worship doesn't. Worship is ultimate, not missions, because God is ultimate, not man. When this age is over, and the countless millions of the redeemed fall on their faces before the throne of God, missions will be no more. It is a temporary necessity. But worship abides forever.
