About Us

Ted and Rachel are high school sweethearts from Lexington VA, and were married in May 2005 after Ted finished undergrad at the
Virginia Military Institute

In the process of obtaining graduate degrees, they have lived in Charlottesville VA, Philadelphia PA, and Richmond VA. Before leaving the U.S. for a year in PNG, Ted completed his Pediatric Residency at VCU/MCV Hospital, while Rachel managed and taught a middle school program for children with Autism. During their year on Kudjip Station, Ted served as a physician in the hospital while Rachel taught the elementary-age missionary kids.

Since their return from the mission field, the Henderson's settled in Richmond VA near their home church (WEAG), and have two terrific kids, Penniella Mae and Solomon Edward. Ted is a Partner of a thriving outpatient Pediatric practice (PAHP) while also serving part time as the Pediatric Principal Investigator at National Clinical Research. Rachel is a full time Mama homeschooling Pennie & Solomon, and frequently leads worship for our church. Ted & Rachel are also involved with WEAG's discipleship program for new/returning believers, as well as other local missions.

In 2020, the Henderson's returned to PNG as a family of four, and served for three months during the pandemic, Ted primarily covering the Pediatric Ward and outpatient clinic, while Rachel and the kids hosted a preschool play group and invested hearts of hospitality to our fellow missionaries and nationals.

In 2023, the Henderson's returned to PNG for two months, Ted serving in the hospital and Rachel in the missionary school, while Pennie and Solomon discovered the joys of jungle life.

In early 2025, the Henderson's served again for 3 months at Kudjip Nazarene Hospital, remaining faithful to God's call to give a regular "Tithe of Time" in the mission field. This 3 month timeframe offsets the home assignment of one or more longer-term missionary at Kudjip, which helps reduce short-staffing stress.

Ted & Rachel remain open to the Lord increasing their time at Kudjip - in His time and way - so please join the Henderson's in praying for the door to open to serve annually. God is GOOD!
